How to receive Jesus into your heart

The word of God boldly declares, “But as many as received Him, to them gave He the Power to become the sons (children) of God,…John 1:12
This verse shows us clearly that we are NOT automatically Gods child just because we are alive and living in this world. True, we are a creation of God by birth, but not a child of God. That is something different, that takes a choice of our Will. “But as many”, there is a choice to make there, “receive Him”, somebody!! That is an opening of our heart and life to Him.
THE NEED…You see, we are born into this world “dead in our trespasses and sin”. (Eph. 2:1) That started in the beginning when God first told man that the day you sin you will surely die. When man did sin they did die. Not physically, but Spiritually. That death has been passed onto us ever since. So now when we are born into this world we are separated from God, who is holy! Our sinful state will not allow us to approach God. His word also tells us, “the wages of sin, what we earn for sin, is death”, separation from God, who is the source of life!.. That is both in this life now and the next life to come. Whether you have a religious affiliation or not; whether you believe in “a” god or not; whether you are Catholic, Muslim, Protestant, Jewish, etc… or nothing at all. All of us in our hearts,  know we have sinned. Peace, real peace, escapes us! Why? Because we all know in our heart of hearts that we have missed God’s standard of perfection! That realization, the world over, manifests itself in guilt, fear, zeal to work harder and do more, but how do we get rid of the sin we have done?
There is only one way. God Himself, paid our sin debt! The wages of sin (what we earn for sin) is death. (Rom. 6:23) With the love God has for us, he devised a way to pay the price Himself, which we could not pay! He came to earth, born of a virgin and lived a sinless life. His name was Jesus, the Christ. He is on the Roman census books from His birth. At the age of 33 He went through a mock trial and was falsely accused by jealous religious leaders. When examined by a Roman governor named Pilot, he said, “I find no fault in this man”. But after the persistence of these religious leaders, He was condemned to death on a Roman Cross. It was at that exact moment that God’s amazing love and purpose came together. Jesus, though sinless, became sin for us! God put your sin and mine on Jesus, (the wages of sin is death) that is why He died for US! He paid a debt He did not owe, because we owed a debt we could not pay. The bible tells us in II Corin.5:21, that He, Jesus, became sin for us, who knew no sin, that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him. There has only ever been one payment for sin that God accepts, that was at the Cross where Jesus died. No one else’s plans or efforts, does God accept. Acts 4:12 says, “Neither is there salvation in any other; for there is no other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” NO OTHER NAME! That is why the scriptures declare in John 1:12, “but as many as receive Him, to them gave He power to become the children of God, even to them that believe on His name”. That is why we pray a simple prayer, and if we mean it in our hearts and invite Him, Jesus, to come into our life, He will come in and make all the difference and will bring the peace that so many have tried everything else to find! Also, the victory in life, comes as we learn to allow Him to make all the changes in our life that He wants to make. By His spirit living in us, He will produce all the love, joy and peace that gives life all the richness we seek.
If that is your desire, bow your head right now and express your heart to God in prayer and pray: “Dear heavenly Father, I humbly ask you to forgive me for all my sins and Lord Jesus, I am trusting your death on the Cross for the forgiveness of my sins and I want you to come into my life and be my savior and my Lord and direct my life for now on. Please guide me into what is right and true for its in Jesus name I pray. Amen.”.
